Professional Beggars

These days the city seems to be invaded by beggars who are trained professionals. These include people from all age group even children who have hardly learnt how to speak.

According to a survey, rates are fixed for different localities for their allocation depending upon market value and these areas are rented out to various groups of beggars. This is a serious crime and despite the fact that it’s known to the authorities’ no strict action is being taken so far.

The situation is worse to the extent that even educational institutions are not safe from these professional beggars. These people can easily access the classrooms and are not stopped from doing so. Although there are some teachers who discourage these things but in contrast many out there would rather tell the students to give some money to these social criminals.

These are organized masses, well trained in their work and even roam around with fake medical prescriptions asking for help. Such open practice of this social crime reflects the efficiency of the concerned authority. During the month of Ramadan, there is an increased influx of people to the main cities.

The other adverse effect is that they are an open security threat as these masses are unchecked, making it very favorable for the terror groups to be in action. They can very easily enter any area causing a security risk.

Effective measures are required to minimize any such possibility which can cause threat to the lives of the citizens.

I think it’s not very easy to tell whether a beggar is a trained professional or even to call them so. I mean what of the people who are well-groomed, suited booted, and they bust into your office with offers of insurance or credit card. They are also beggars except that they are of a higher class and seem to offer something no matter how unprofitable!

Should there be a law regarding these suave beggars from inavding offices and markets?

I think that is called marketing and not begging... plus you can't call marketing professionals as beggars.

Here, at every traffic signals in the metros, you would find atleast 10-15 beggars. They have whole lot of group to cover every vehicle possible to earn the maximum amount.
